AWANA PROGRAM: “BECAUSE KIDS MATTER TO GOD”

Yesterday, the AWANA or APPROVED WORKMEN ARE NOT ASHAMED Seminar has been conducted at the Main Church Sanctuary from 9 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon to formally train members who have been involved including those who want to work with our members' children during week day services. The seminar has been graciously sponsored by the Church, not only covering the handouts, but paying for the lunch and afternoon snacks of attendees.

The Pastor himself has been promoting this to our people, mentioning that AWANA has made a big impact to many Churches of like faith in the USA , including families of children with unsaved parents.

Some Sunday nights ago, Mr. Zoilo “Jun” Anat, Jr. the National Director of the Awana Organization Phils., Inc, has given a very interesting presentation of the Awana ministry. According to its brochure, Awana is “so much more than a weekly ministry to children and youth. It has a variety of special programs, events and opportunities that will help you reach your community, evangelize unsaved parents, stretch the young people's faith, empower volunteers and expand your congregation's vision for missions and ministry.”

As of Thursday night, 75 enlisted and availed themselves to join this exciting program, which has as its prayer “that all children and youth throughout the world will come to know, love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ.” Continue to pray for our Awana personnel, that they would be impacting the lives of our kids for a heavenly eternity!

Missions News

FROM BARCELONA , SPAIN to the PHILIPPINES

More than 100 years ago, a Swedish Baptist missionary in Barcelona , Spain left his splendid comfort to do missionary work. Dr. and Mrs. Eric Lund was challenged by his first Filipino convert, Braulio Manikan from Iloilo City to pioneer a work in the Philippines with thorough sacrifices and hardships. They pioneered the work, resulting to more than thousands of Baptist Churches in the entire country.

WITHOUT THEM, WHERE WOULD WE BE NOW??

FROM THE AUTONOMOUS REGION IN THE MUSLIM MINDANAO (A.R.M.M.) TO THE LARGEST ISLAMIC COUNTRY OF THE WORLD— INDONESIA

13 years ago, I was sent by First Bible Baptist Church in Pototan Iloilo under the leadership of my beloved Pastor, Rev. Francis J. Jardenil to pioneer a work in Lanao del Sur, particularly in the municipality of Wa-o . It was a sacrifice, hardships were encountered in the process of building the work, but God blessed our work.

Through mission conferences and prayers, I was convinced to answer the missionary call to a foreign country with fervent prayers. Yes, God called me to Indonesia . I concluded that my 13 years of stay in Wa-o, Lanao del Sur, a Muslim region in Mindanao was a training to the next missionary work in an Islamic country. It was not my desire where to go, but who am I that would choose my own way?

I decided then to leave the Church whom I love for 13 years of being a loyal, abiding, and supportive member to fulfill the Great Commission. Matt. 28:19-20. -o0o-

July update

Dear Pastor Abante and Church, Greetings! God never moves without a purpose or plan. Man proposes, but God disposes, according to His will. I planned, but God had His own.

Last month, June 14, 2007, I met Pastor Peter Ayon, a veteran missionary of Indonesia in a missions conference and he gave me guidelines, preferably Language studies, which will need a bigger budget. So I've got to extend my deputation for the Language Study and other needs for the whole month of July. I will be visiting churches in Nueva Ecija.

I thank and praise the Lord for your prayers and continuing holding the rope for us.

Your Missionary to the largest Islamic country of the whole world, INDONESIA .

WASALAM!!!
